On Sunday May 17, 1964, twenty-five golfers over the age of fifty held a tournament at Spring Lake golf course in Richmond Virginia. These participants had such a spirited and enjoyable contest, they decided on a monthly competition. From these outings, the organization was created and named the “Senior Golfers of Virginia”. 

The growth of SGV membership has exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic of our early leaders. This outreach to all senior golfers residing in Virginia has been most successful; as indicated by the tremendous increase in membership during the past several years. 

Membership in the Organization is open to any person who has reached the age of 50 and has met all requirements set forth by the Golf Committee. 

Our schedule for golf outings is the second Tuesday of each month; beginning in April and concluding in October with a 

3-day Championship Tournament featuring a  banquet and trophy presentations.
